. Special duty volunteers are defined as those active
members living more than two miles driving distance outside PTC
boundaries and any other Members who have been specifically
approved for that status by the Fire Chief. Those living inside
or within two miles of Peachtree City may request and receive
SDV status at the discretion of the Fire Chief. Such status will
only be granted if special circumstances prevent said volunteer
from adhering to response requirements of regular active
members.
SDV's can maintain any training option (fire, EMS, etc.).
SDV's must meet all qualifications, application, procedures,
training and other requirements of probationary and Active
members except for call response procedures and requirements.
They may not respond to calls from their residences. They are
not required to meet any call response percentage requirements.
SDV's are entitled to all privileges of active membership (e.g.,
voting).
SDV's must perform a minimum of 40 hours per month of
scheduled Station duty. The minimum shift would be 4 hours of
continuous duty. The SDV will respond to calls on the apparatus
as assigned by the Duty Officer (DO), commensurate with their
level of training and certification. They will perform such
other station duties as is reasonably assigned by the Duty
Officer.
The Volunteer Fire Captain will monitor sign-ups to assure
adherence to minimum shift time requirements. Failure to
meet sign-up requirements would result in the SDV being placed
on Probationary status as outlined in the PCVFA Constitution and
by-laws.
SDV's are not eligible for red light permits.
Please be aware that the SDV program is extremely popular and
the department only accepts a limited number of SDV candidates.
Once you have gone through the application process, you may be
placed on a 'waiting' roster prior to appointment. |
